Introducing a new podcast for geospatial professionals and academics. If you’re new to the world of geospatial, or just new to Hexagon, this podcast is for you! In this first episode of Hexagon’s GSP Education and Careers podcast series, Mike Lane, Hexagon Global Education Manager, and Elliott Ferguson, VP of Geospatial at Hexagon US Federal, introduce themselves and the topics they’ll cover in future episodes. The good news is, you’re not alone. Networking doesn’t come naturally to everyone, but there are many ways to build connections with your geospatial colleagues.

5. Spotlight on Delta State

In this episode of GSP Education and Careers, Mike Lane, Hexagon Global Education Manager, and Elliott Ferguson, VP of Geospatial at Hexagon US Federal, discuss the GEOINT program at Delta State University. Established in 2016, the program is under the direction of Talbot Brooks, Delta State’s Director of the Center for Interdisciplinary Geospatial Information Technologies.

Our relationship with Delta State is a model for how industry and academia can work together to build the future geospatial workforce.
Delta State’s GEOINT program is only several years old, but has already shown success in supporting non-traditional students, including active and retired military. The faculty at Delta State believe the geospatial industry can be an ideal fit for students with military experience. Hexagon supports Delta State with projects for students to work on during the academic year, providing real-world GIS experience for students.
